How to add a camera with P2P UID for remote access to the Foscam App?

Overview: This article will introduce the process of adding a Foscam camera by entering its UID number to the Foscam app.

Note:

To prepare for this configuration the UID must be documented for the camera. The number is usually located on a label on the bottom or the side of the camera. Be sure all the numbers and letters are correct otherwise it will be impossible to add the camera using this method.


Step 1: Launch the Foscam app from your smart device and log into the Foscam cloud account.
Click the + icon too add a new camera to the account.
Click “No QR Code”

Step 2: Enter the UID/DDNS/IP of the camera to be added manually
Note: Alphabetical characters for the camera must be entered capitalized otherwise this process is going to fail. Once all of the characters have been entered click OK.

Step 3: Enter the username and password for the camera.
In the Security Settings input the username and password of the camera.
Click OK and standby for the camera to be added. (This process may take up to two minutes.)

Step 4: Log-in to the camera to view live video
Note: If the camera has been recently reset or is brand new you will be prompted to enter a new username and password for the camera. Once this is completed you will be able to view the video feed from the camera.
After the process is completed select the recently added camera and press the Arrow (Play) button.

Note: The maximum username is 20 characters in length including letters, numbers and symbols _-@$*
The length of the password should be 6-12 letters, numbers and combinations of symbols. Symbols supported are  ~ ! @ # % * ( ) _ = {  }  “ |  <> ? ` - ; ’   , . /

FOSCAM reserves the right to refuse to accept and/or execute an order without giving any reasons.

FOSCAM also reserves the right to cancel orders in whole or in part as circumstances dictate. 

Returns, Refunds, Cancellations & Exchanges
As a consumer (not a business or reseller) you have the right to cancel your order within 7 working days from the date of receiving your order for a full refund of the order cost excluding the delivery cost and excluding your postage cost for returning the item. In addition there will be a handling fee of 10% per order. This charge covers the time and resources spent on inspecting the equipment, resetting and repackaging as well as reselling the returned item. The handling fee is deducted from the refund amount. Refunds will not be issued after 7 days.

You are required to inform us by email of your intention to return items within this 7 day period.

The item must be returned with all fixings, packing and any supplied paperwork, manuals or instruction booklets and must be in a re-saleable condition for us to issue a refund. Please do not write on any of the packaging or paper inserts contained in the box.

Any item/s returned to us that is not in a re-saleable condition will not be refunded. Manufacturers will not accept items that are scratched, or have any parts missing. 

The purchaser is required to return the item to us at their own expense.

Foscam is a reseller of TP-Link products, however, Foscam is not the agent. Any faults found with any TP-Link product entails sending back to the original supplier which may take time in resolving the issue. Foscam does not carry courier costs in this regard.

Foscam does not make use of the Post Office or Post Net. Please courier parcels back to us using a reputable courier company. Please address to Foscam, Broadacres Shopping Centre, Corner of Cedar and Valley Road, Broadacres.

Refunds are made within 30 days to you via EFT transfer.

Title and Risk
No ownership to the Products shall pass to the Customer until payment in full and in cleared funds of the Price for the Products and any other sums which may be due under the Contract, whether for the rendering of services or otherwise, have been received by FOSCAM.

Apart from the provisions of sections 42 and 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act the returns policy of FOSCAM is as follows:

FOSCAM does not permit the return, refund, cancellation or exchange of the following products:

• Products that are custom configured to your specifications
• Products that are specifically ordered to fulfill a customers order
• Pan & tilt cameras that the mechanism has been forced manually resulting in the camera being broken
• Products that have been installed incorrectly, resulting in damage to the camera
• Products that have been damaged due to negligence, mishandling, power surges or lightning strikes, been dropped, have liquid damage, exposed to excess dirt or heat, or components that have been forced to work beyond their normal operating means
• Products that are returned for poor sound quality. Our cameras are sold as a visual aid as we cannot guarantee sound quality.
• Products that are returned without the original packaging and accessories, including the retail box, manuals, cables and all other items originally included with the product
• Any product that exhibits physical damage 
• Products not purchased from Foscam South Africa
• Inability to setup cameras
• Cameras intended to view license plate numbers. Foscam does not guarantee license plate recognition.

The purchase of more than 4 cameras should ideally be hard wired (PoE). Clients that insist on running more than 4 wireless cameras may have network issues/cameras falling off the network. Foscam will not be held responsible in this regard.

Foscam will not be held responsible if a client has an existing router, that is not capable of supporting the cameras and are then advised to purchase a new router. Please check before making your purchase that your router has the necessary capacity, especially in instances where multiple cameras are required. Please note mi-fi routers (pebbles) are not recommended.

Dead On Arrival (DOA) Product: System Failure Out of the Box
FOSCAM hardware product is considered DOA if it shows symptoms of a hardware failure, preventing basic operability, upon its first use out of the box. If you believe that your product is DOA, please call Foscam on (011) 465 9173 or email support@foscam.co.za within 7 calendar days of the invoice date. Foscam will determine whether the product is DOA and you will be offered the following solution.

Replacement: The same product that you ordered will be shipped to you at FOSCAMS expense once FOSCAM receives the DOA product. Refunds will not be issued for defective cameras that fall within the warranty period.

DOA Terms and Conditions       
This DOA policy applies only to FOSCAM branded hardware products currently offered at Foscam. As new products are offered, Foscam reserves the right to determine whether or not this policy applies.

This DOA policy does not apply to third-party products that do not bear the FOSCAM brand name. You may call the manufacturer or their agents directly with any third-party product issues.

If the product is deemed by FOSCAM NOT to be DOA, FOSCAMS standard product warranty will apply.

Shipping will be arranged at FOSCAMS expense for all products determined by FOSCAM to be DOA.

FOSCAM reserves the right to test returned DOA product. If the condition of the product is misrepresented by the customer, FOSCAM may impose a R1,000 handling fee.

Note: Products sold through this web site that do not bear the FOSCAM brand name are serviced and supported exclusively by their manufacturers in accordance with terms and conditions packaged with the products. FOSCAMS Limited Warranty does not apply to products that are not FOSCAM-branded, even if packaged or sold with FOSCAM products.

Foscam Resellers
If you would like to become a FOSCAM reseller, we expect you to offer your own clients technical support and follow up service. As a Foscam reseller or installer, Foscam will not be held responsible if your clients is not satisfied with the service you offer. Please be advised that resellers and installers will be responsible for their clients questions, installation queries and camera operation. We offer online and telephone support and do not send technicians to site to do installations. We do have independent installers that charge their own fees to do setups / site inspections and can be arranged.

Resellers will not be given a further discount on SALE items.

Foscam Support
Foscam offers support in the form of email support or telephonic support. Please email support@foscam.co.za and one of our technicians will respond to your email. Alternatively please call the office and we will log a call with one of our technicians to call you back. We are not at liberty to give out our technicians phone numbers. Please note they will call from blocked or private numbers. They will endevour to call you back as soon as possible but may be working on an installation so please be patient, they will get to you as soon as possible.

Remote Camera Setup
FOSCAM does not do housecalls to assist with setup/installation of cameras.

If assistance is required with the setup, a 'Remote Setup' can be ordered online. This entitles the purchaser the setup of one camera for R580. Additional cameras will be charged for at an additional cost of R580 per camera.

In the event that a new order is placed for the purchase of a second camera, and the initial camera has been setup, a further remote setup will be charged for.

NB: ONCE A REMOTE SETUP HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND YOU ARE HAPPY THAT THE CAMERA(S) ARE UP AND RUNNING, WE ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO DO A SECOND REMOTE INSTALLATION FOR FREE. PLEASE NOTE IF YOU PUSH ANY RESET BUTTONS ON THE CAMERA OR ROUTER, OR PURCHASE NEW HARDWARE, THE SETUP MAY NEED TO BE DONE AGAIN. THIS WILL BE A FURTHER CHARGE.

'Remote Setup' does not include the setup of smartphones. We can offer advice in this regard. Cameras that have been custom configured cannot be returned to FOSCAM.

When using a 3G router and FI9805W camera, please ensure the APN has been unrestricted with your service provider if need be. Foscam cannot have the APN unrestricted on your behalf. If the APN has not been unrestricted, the camera setup on the FI9805W model will not work.

FOSCAM cameras are easy for some people to setup, however if you do battle, we recommend you use the services of a person with an IT background. CCTV / analogue cameras are different to IP cameras and technicians in the CCTV field may battle to configure the cameras correctly. FOSCAM cannot be held responsible if the cameras are not setup correctly, or if the cameras have been purchased and you battle to setup the cameras correctly.

FOSCAM will not be held responsible for poor wifi connectivity or dated routers that are not stable and cannot hold the camera signal.

FOSCAM will not be held responsible for single or multiple camera setups, where the network is falling over or has network issues.

FOSCAM will not be held responsible if PoE cameras have been recommended for large scale installations (5 cameras plus), and the customer is insisting on the use of wifi cameras.

Quotations and Stock Availability
All quotes are valid for 5 business days from date of quoting. Delivery will only happen once payment has been received and goods are paid for in full. Prices quoted ARE subject to change without prior notification. Ruling rate of exchange applies at all times. Any price changes made during the validity period of a quotation will nullify the prices shown on the quotation.

Stocks of all goods on offer are limited. FOSCAM shall take all reasonable efforts to discontinue the offer as soon as stock is no longer available. However, should items still be offered after stocks are sold, FOSCAM shall only be liable to refund monies where it is unable to fulfill orders at advertised prices.

Bulk orders or custom orders have a lead time of 2-3 weeks, and will only be ordered in once payment has been received. Bulk orders or custom orders are not allowed to be returned.

Special Offers / Sale Items
FOSCAM shall not be liable for the sale of items at lower prices if such prices were increased and users and/or purchasers could not, for any reason whatsoever, conclude an agreement of sale while such prices remained low.

Sale items unfortunately do not qualify for voucher discounts or free shipping.

Customers may only redeem one discount voucher for a review.

Applications for Smartphones
Apps for Smartphones may incur an additional charge. They are not supplied with the purchase of the camera. PLEASE NOTE: Viewing on Smartphones can incur costs by your service provider, for which FOSCAM is not responsible. Using your computers native browser does not incur any costs, only bandwidth.

Guarantee
If FOSCAM supplies the wrong product or if the product is in any way faulty or damaged when you receive it, FOSCAM will exchange it for the correct one. FOSCAM will make a reasonable effort to exchange the product, but if replacement is not possible, FOSCAM will refund the purchase price excluding delivery cost. FOSCAM will not guarantee any of its products if installation is done incorrectly resulting in damage to the camera(s). FOSCAM is not responsible for any water damage to cabling if the correct measures have not been taken during installation to protect them from poor weather conditions.

Foscam can not be held responsible for poor wifi signal. In the event that your camera is dropping the signal, additional hardware may need to be purchased to improve signal strength. Foscam will not be held liable in such an instance.

Hardware Warranty Information

FOSCAM provides a 1-year limited warranty for bare product and 6-month limited warranty for accessories.

Limited Hardware Warranty

FOSCAM products are warranted to be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship starting from the shipping date from FOSCAM.

This limited hardware warranty does not cover:

Software, including the software added to the products through our factory-integration system, software that is included in the CD,etc.

Usage that is not in accordance with product instructions

Failure to follow the product instructions

Abuse of the firmware upgrade without the authorized technician’s guidance.

Incorrect firmware upgrade resulting in bricked cameras.

Abnormal wear and tear.

Replaced products are warranted from the balance of the former warranty period.

Warranty Forfeiture

Warranty is void if the product is purchased from an unauthorized distributor or reseller.

Warranty is void if the trade-mark, serial tags, product stickers have been removed, altered or tampered with.

Warranty is void for mishandling, improper use, or defacing the product.

Warranty is void if the item is opened up to insert an SD card.

Warranty is void if the normal wifi cameras are installed as PoE cameras, without using the correct hardware as this can result in damage to the camera.

Warranty is void for physical damage, altered, either internally or externally, improper or inadequate packaging when returned for RMA purposes.

Warranty is void if damage has resulted from an accident, dismantling, abuse, or service or modification by someone other than the appointed vendor or the spare part has been over the period of warranty.

Warranty is void if the product is damaged due to improper working environment or operation. (For example, improper temperature, humidity, unusual physical or electrical stress or interference, failure or fluctuation of electrical power, static electricity, using wrong power adapter, etc.)

Warranty is void if damaged by the use of parts not manufactured or sold by FOSCAM.

Damage caused by improper installation of third-party products.

Warranty is void if the product is damaged due to natural causes, such as earthquake, fire, lightning, flood, etc.

Product is beyond limited warranty period.

Privacy
This site collects private information from users, such information shall not be disclosed to any third party unless agreed upon between the user and FOSCAM or through due legal process.

Users agree that FOSCAM may, from time to time communicate with users.

Security
Any person that delivers or attempts to deliver any damaging code to this web site or attempts to gain unauthorised access to any page on this web site shall be prosecuted and civil damages shall be claimed in the event that FOSCAM suffers any damage or loss.

The user allows FOSCAM to take all reasonable steps to ensure the integrity and security of FOSCAM site and back-office applications.

All credit card transactions are processed by our approved third-party partners.

Changes to Agreement
FOSCAM may, in its sole discretion, change this agreement or any part thereof at any time without notice.

Domicilium
FOSCAM chooses as its domicilium citandi et executandi for all purposes under this agreement, whether in respect of court process, notice, or other documents or communication of whatsoever nature: Unit 5 Hy Many Place, 8 Frangipani Cr, Randpark Ridge, JHB.
